My transition from elementary to high school teaching and international teaching to public teaching has given me new insights.
First, although students can supplement disciplinary knowledge with AI and pass it off as their work, it is still very necessary for them to slow down and absorb or recall content and to build conceptual frameworks in any discipline.
Second, by being fluent or embodying a conceptual framing, we can collectively begin to add reasons as to why seeing the world through any particular disciplinary lens is important. It’s so they can develop their agency, their character, and the opportunity to position themselves into roles where others can rely on them.
Well-being, as it extends from knowledge, is grounded in developing one's ability to shape and be shaped by society.
