So far this year, there have already been 22,759 total wildfires, with 988,319 acres burned. These are both above the 10-year average, and things look like they’re not going to slow down anytime soon.
According to the article, the 2025 fire season is shaping up to rival a bad one in 2017. The projected fire maps shown at the bottom of this Note are from Hotshot Wake Up’s article.
