According to a study that Toby Rogers, Ph.D. co-authored, the annual estimate could more than double from 2020 to 2030. And within 40 years, the autism epidemic will require $5.54 trillion. The lifetime cost to society for individuals with autism could range from approximately $5.7 million to $7.2 million, depending on severity. Most of this cost will be borne by government as family caregivers die off.
