The Conservative Nightmare in Idaho. Here's a Step-by-Step Breakdown of How Ranked-Choice Voting Could Hand Power to RINOs and Democrats Across Idaho. By Brian Lenney - Nampa's Senator (09/28/24)
🚫 DEFEAT PROPOSITION 1 👎 VOTE NO!
From Sen. Lenney’s passionate introduction:
If you haven’t heard about it yet, let me tell you: this is the most dangerous political trick Idaho has faced in decades. It’s a ticking time bomb specifically designed to destroy our conservative values and flip Idaho blue. Because what Prop 1 does is enact a top-four “jungle primary” combined with something called “ranked-choice voting (RCV).”
To put it plainly: it’s a scam — a rigged system designed to confuse voters, split the conservative vote, and hand power over to liberals and liberal Republicans.
Sen. Lenney then goes on to illustrate how this scam would play out in his conservative District 13 (Nampa), which strongly supported him during two primaries and the last general election.
Bottom line for District 13 — Lenney Could Lose:
Under the Top-Four/Jungle Primary system, you’d have to rank four candidates in order of preference (even those you DO NOT WANT to represent you under any circumstances). You COULD NOT SIMPLY VOTE FOR JUST ONE.
Top-Four Primary: You could end up with a strong conservative Republican (Brian Lenney), a weak Republican who votes like a Democrat (Jeff Agenbroad), a low-numbers Democrat (Sarah Butler), and possibly another Democrat. Likely, Sen. Lenney would win the majority of these votes, but all four candidates would move on to the General election.
Ranked Choice Voting General: After all the convoluted computerized movement of votes through the ranks and throwing out some votes — in a system that makes Common Core Math look easy to explain — top primary vote-getter Sen. Lenney could lose the general election! This has happened before, in Alaska, where the first-round leader (Sarah Palin) lost to a Democrat.
ED NOTE: Alaska hates the Ranked Choice Voting system so much, they’re trying to repeal this year.
Sen. Lenney concludes:
The people pushing Proposition 1 are the same ones pushing a left-wing agenda here in Idaho. The folks backing Boise Pride Fest, the Democrats, and liberals in both parties who despise our values—they’re all on board with this because they know it’s their best shot at taking power without having to actually win over the majority of voters.
