ED NOTE The headline says it all, folks. This appears to be yet another example of the “justice” system thwarting state efforts to ensure election integrity. 

The ruling struck down a major element of Texas Senate Bill 1 passed in 2021. This law increased safeguards to prevent ballot harvesting and instituted additional protections ensuring free and fair elections.

A federal district court judge ruled that such provisions violated the First and Fourteenth Amendments and banned the TX Office of the Attorney General from opening investigations into instances of election fraud under the portion of election code enjoined by the decision.

Paxton has vowed to continue the fight.

AG Paxton formally requested the records of every registered voter without a State of Texas-issued driver’s license or identification card number in order to facilitate efforts to stop noncitizen voting and investigate potential voter fraud.
