NOTES

Formulations:

  • Pure liquid (non-diluted, or 70% diluted depending on manufacturer; some offer additional dilutions)

  • Pure gel (70/30 Distilled Water Gel)

  • Mixed gel (typically mixed with aloe vera) — pure gels more common and higher rated in general

  • Gel Roll-On (scroll down the page linked just below)

Gels vs. Liquids:

Gel can be easier to apply and possibly less messy. Liquid is less irritating and what AMD uses.

Aloe Vera: Homemade gels can be created by mixing liquid DMSO with pure (at least 99.5%) aloe vera gel.

Some 100% Pure Aloe Vera Gel Sources:

Dilution Calculators & Converters (for the math challenged, like us ;-)

AMD’s Recommended DMSO Sources midwesterndoctor.com/i/…

We have provided manufacturer’s websites wherever practical.

The DMSO Store [newest, possibly purest, AMD uses and likes, high GMP standards, Free Domestic Shipping USPS]: dmsostore.com

Suggest starting with DMSO Store manufacturer website; non-diluted liquid.

Jacob Lab [99.98% pure, most expensive, 70% solution, shipping ~$10]: jacoblab.com

Nature’s Gift [99.9% pure, 70% solution, AMD has used for a long time] naturesgift-dmso.com (only gel is available on manufacturer's website)

Safety (patch tests, etc.) Information:

midwesterndoctor.com/i/…

Topical Application (liquid application) Information: midwesterndoctor.com/i/…

  • Clean skin thoroughly first

  • Use cotton swab, spray bottle, natural fiber paintbrush, or (possibly best) fingers

  • Let dry about 20 minutes before putting on any clothing

Dosing Information:

midwesterndoctor.com/i/…

  • 70% often ideal, but can be diluted as needed if rashes occur.

  • Recommended: Dilute and increase concentration as needed.

Diluting Information (for liquid):

midwesterndoctor.com/i/…

Although DMSO weighs a bit more than water, it's easier just to assume they are the same and use simple math to dilute. (See also “Dilution Calculators & Converters” above.)

  • Example: Start with 70% DMSO, and mix with two parts water and test. Then mix with one part water and test. If that is still tolerable, use 70% without diluting (what most people end up using).

Mixing DMSO with water will generate heat, which is normal.

Skin Reactions Information:

midwesterndoctor.com/i/…

  • Irritated skin (e.g., redness, itching, or burning) normally temporary and passes (and often becomes less likely with subsequent doses of DMSO).

  • Higher concentrations of DMSO on the same spot can create scaling on the skin. Try different nearby areas.

  • Most skin issues occur with 90% rather than 70%.

  • DMSO will create NORMAL sensations in the skin (e.g., warmth, a bit of numbness, a pulsation or a prickling).

Advice for Specific Conditions (details at the link):

midwesterndoctor.com/i/…

  • Acute bursitis

  • Acute back and neck strains

  • Acute Injuries

  • Arthritis

  • Blisters (60-75%)

  • Eczema (atopic dermatitis 40-65%)

  • Gout (75-80%)

  • Migraine Headaches (50%)

  • Restless leg syndrome (60-80%, brush or spray)

  • Scars (60-75% daily)

  • Spine Issues (70%)

  • Sunburns (30-60%, repeat after 3-5 hours)

  • Trigeminal Neuralgia
