Republicans could temporarily lose their narrow House majority because Reps. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.), Elise Stefanik (R-N.Y.), and Michael Waltz (R-Fla.) were nominated to join President-elect Donald Trump’s administration. Gaetz has since withdrawn and will not return to the House. All three will be replaced in special elections in heavily Republican districts.
