ICAN Supports Lawsuits Against Healthcare Providers Who Give Newborns a Hep B Vaccine Without Parental Consent (11/21/24)

ICAN has launched a new campaign to hold hospitals and doctors responsible when they ignore the wishes of parents and administer the hepatitis B (hep B) vaccine to a newborn without parental consent.
ICAN will be investigating and supporting lawsuits for parents whose baby was vaccinated with the hepatitis B vaccine without their consent.
If your newborn received a Hep B shot without your consent, tell your story here: icandecide.org/article/…
Do babies get the hepatitis B virus?
Not unless they engage in unprotected sex or intravenous drug use, or their mothers have the virus (moms are tested prior to giving birth). Moreover, the two hepatitis B vaccines available for babies in the U.S. were licensed after less than a week in clinical trials. For these reasons, many parents choose not to give Hep B shots to their newborns. But some hospitals and doctors administer these shots in violation of parental wishes, a practice that is both illegal and unethical.
