The Great Statin Scam. Why are statins so harmful, and are they even necessary? By A Midwestern Doctor (12/19/24)

ED NOTE
This is a nicely abridged version of a longer article about the great cholesterol scam (which is linked in the abridged version).

Story At a Glance (edited):

Medicine depends upon recurring sales to large markets. In turn, as comedian Jimmy Dore shows, the War against Cholesterol and the relentless promotion of statins is one of the most harmful things the medical industry has done to America! ~ A Midwestern Doctor

  • Most heart disease is treated with costly cholesterol-lowering statin drugs.

  • Statins are highly toxic with minuscule benefits (extending life by only a few days)

  • Statins block the body’s production of various essential nutrients. Thus, they frequently cause pharmaceutical injuries (including muscle, nerve, or liver damage and significant cognitive impairment).

  • Very little evidence exists that cholesterol actually causes heart disease.

  • Heart disease results from (cholesterol containing) atherosclerotic blood clots accumulating at the sites of past injuries to the blood vessels.

This article reviews the dangers of statins, the actual causes of heart disease, and how to integrate this knowledge into a healthy approach to cardiovascular health.

Key Topics:

  • The Statin Damage Crisis

  • Statin Neurotoxicity

  • Why Statins are Harmful

    • Cholesterol

    • CoQ10

    • Nuclear Factor-Kappa B

  • Medical Mythologies

  • The Clot Thickens (Dr. Malcolm Kendrick’s Model)

  • Conclusion (Based on Kendrick’s Model)

(ED NOTE: We added a few definitions here.)

    • The endothelium is the single layer of cells (called endothelial cells) that line the inner surface of blood vessels and lymphatic vessels.

    • Atherosclerosis is an inflammatory disease caused by the buildup — called plaque — of fats, cholesterol and other substances in and on the artery walls.

Plaque can cause arteries to narrow, blocking blood flow. The plaque also can burst, leading to a blood clot.

    • Most cardiovascular disease is caused by damage to the blood vessel lining (from atherosclerotic lesions) and the vessel’s inability to perform the normal functions (e.g., nitric oxide secretion) that allow it to protect the circulation.

    • Inflammation and prolonged and severe stress (e.g., from mental illness, cigarettes, extreme social oppression, etc.) frequently damage the endothelium and contribute to heart disease.

    • Heart attacks are due to blood clots interrupting a critical blood supply to the heart.

    • A rational approach to heart disease: Focus on the actual causes of heart disease being endothelial damage and find ways to regain endothelial function.

    • Because there’s so much money “treating” cholesterol, evidence has been unable to shake the statin-to-treat-cholesterol dogma within medicine. Thus…

The medical and Pharma industries are doubling down on cholesterol drugs as existing statins go off-patent.

Costly (and dangerous) cholesterol lowering medications are now entering the market. These block the ability of cells to stop absorbing cholesterol from the bloodstream (either through temporary custom antibodies or long-term gene therapies).
