Sen. Zuiderveld explains how Idaho is starting to look a lot like Germany in the run-up to WWII. A few points are below, but please read her post to truly understand what she is saying.
Idaho State government is the largest single employer in the state.
Federal government is the largest single employer in the nation.
Government workers rely on tax dollars to pay their wages and benefits.
We are duplicating in America what Germany did from 1933 onward. Hitler and his new government “immediately launched an all-out assault on unemployment …” including:
Stimulated private industry through subsidies and tax rebates.
Encouraged consumer spending via marriage loans and massive public-works programs.
Eight hour workdays with generous overtime pay.
Better health and safety conditions, canteens with subsidized hot meals, athletic fields, parks, subsidized theater performances and concerts, exhibitions, sports and hiking groups, dances, adult education courses, and subsidized tourism.
Expanded social welfare programs.
Expanded vocational training programs.
Generous incentives for further advancement of efficient workers.
Idaho’s legislature is adding more government programs that require grants and subsidies—and more full-time positions.
Maintenance budgets typically pass, but Idaho needs to DOGE deeper into them.
Any passed enhancement budgets become next year’s maintenance budgets. The cycle of spending repeats.
H306 passed through committee, a scary move that will restrict Idahoans’ First Amendment rights (legislature.idaho.gov/s…)
ED NOTE
Please, wake up your legislators and let them know that their tax-and-spend expand government and stifle freedom business as usual is NOT OK. See also glenneda.substack.com/p…
Our relatives also were caught up in the horrors and tyranny of WWII and its lead-up. You're right: We are on a collision course to what happened in Germany and what's happening there again. We see what you're seeing in Idaho and throughout the US (despite our new federal administration), and we don't like it!
