The large one is about 12 years old, 2 ¼ pounds and over 13 inches long. I brought her home from a pet store in a zip lock bag with about six others.
She is a passive fish, a follower not a leader. She let her fellow fish ask for food and she ate with them. She never learned to tell me she was hungry.
She is the last survivor of my original fish. I bought six fish, 4 inches long. Any smaller and big fish kill them. Of the six, she killed two before deciding the other four can be her friends.
Now the four babies quickly learn how to ask for food, and the big fish joins them. Once again, she is able to follow along.
