I’m thinking of switching from Kindle to Google Books.
I’ve been a Kindle user from the beginning, and I’ve dabbled in Google’s book ecosystem, but I’ve never given Google Books a solid try.
Some things about the Kindle universe irk me. Years ago, Amazon reached into my Kindle and substituted the edition of F. Paul Wilson’s novel Nightworld that I loved with a different version.
You can’t download your entire library on Kindle—you have to download books one at a time. Organizing books on the Kindle is a mess.
Amazon switched off the functionality of older Kindles.
Last year, Amazon removed the ability to download and transfer books to a computer via USB.
So, I’m off to try Google Books for the next several novels, and maybe forever.
