Make money doing the work you believe in

Thanks for sharing this with me, WadeS :) I think I read this or skimmed it when it came out. There’s a lot in this that is great, and it still misses a couple critical points and puts the onus back on the individual to change, which is both the playbook for all things patriarchy and anti-patriarchy right now. I’d like to see more treatment of what actual community is, and how it requires development adults, of which fewer than 1% of folks over 30 would be the threshold. I for one don’t want to be in community with adolescents. I want to be friendly and supportive of adolescents, but I want to create the conditions that pull for purposeful adults connect to and committed to the whole. Also, there is no evidence of a village of adults who center their lives around nuclear families and consumer capitalism. There is ample evidence that they are mutually exclusive. So to achieve what the author wants, we have to break the back of both capitalism and the marriage imposition / addiction in society. We’ll need more deeply considered matriarchal political economies, animist spiritualities, and rites of passage, like the sector-by-sector imagining I put out a couple weeks ago: bisonmedicine.substack.…

Everyone wants a village, but no one wants to be a villager.
