At its core, writing is personal expression. And personal expression requires a lot of honesty. It demands a willingness to write everything down. It looks to me like surrender. To let go of control, to allow thoughts to flow through you without censorship. To write with reckless abandon, as though no one will ever read the thing that you're writing. In doing so, you give yourself room to breathe, and a safe space to dwell with the works of your hands and your mind.
