Having stopped bashing my head against a wall for tipping an odds-on shot in the Cheshire Oaks, I’m The One let us down, finishing 2L second to Aidan O’Brien’s improved Amelia Earhart. To add to the annoyance, the selection went off 6-5.
More tractability and experience came to the fore, yet the fitting of two pieces of headgear rang alarm bells when looking at the race.
Oh well, so it goes.
We had more luck in the following Chester Vase, when Benvenuto Cellini (2-9f) ran out an easy winner, and I put up his stablemate Proposition (14-1) to follow him home, which paid 100-30. I also suggested Del Maro made no appeal, but odds of 6-1 to Lay were a little on the high side. He trailed in 4th of the 5 runners.
Hope you had a decent day of punting. Let’s hope for more success on day 2.
