We got back to winning…or should that be losing ways with the Lay of the day at Epsom in the big one, the Oaks.
With enough doubts about her chances, AMELIA EARHART was a suggested 1pt lay at 9-4.
I have to admit, I was concerned ‘the lads’ had emptied their piggy banks come post time, as having been friendless and pushed out to 3-1 earlier in the day, she was sent off 7-4f. Well positioned throughout, she downed tools in the straight to finish 6th of the 9 runners. My selection for the race, Legacy Link, looked the winner as the pace increased, but she was swallowed up by the impressive Irish raider Thundering On.
Getting the lay spot on made up somewhat for the earlier frustrating ‘nose’ defeat of my only 1pt win bet on PERSICA (11-4) in the Diomed Stakes. Overtaking Seagulls Eleven well inside the final furlong and going about half length up, that deficit was reduced, eventually losing out on the bob. Sick doesn’t begin to describe how I felt, especially after having a decent punt on him myself. So it goes!
Thank you again subscribers for indulging me, and I wish you a good day of punting tomorrow. Don’t forget to check out my previews for Epsom, with the cost of joining just £20 for the entire month of June.
