Just this past month something changed in our home. Our 4 year old was captivated by my reading aloud of The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe. We finished it and started learning how to read. I’ve sat down many times to write about this beautiful change in her and how much life and hope it has given me as a mom, but every time I do she interrupts me with questions or thoughts or requests which are at a whole new level… and I have less time to write because she feels less like a baby now and a little more like a friend.
The joy of watching a child mastering reading by your help is indescribable. I often forget it, but just last night I was like, “Wait I’ve taught two of my own children to read, and now they’re reading their father’s commentaries before bed? I’m doing amazing things with my life!”
Blessings to you. It’s another one of those overwhelming goods :)
