Because Rich Paul doesn’t just have one team. He has, like, 4*. So later in the column you have “league sources” saying LaVine would like to play in Sacramento with Paul-managed D’Aaron Fox
That gets into the sticky business of the actual NBA teams wanting LaVine and his contract. Sam Amick tries to persuade that maybe the Kings think their defense is improved to the point that LaVine would be a good addition, but I’m not convinced.
*besides the Lakers, Paul’s other big-name clients are on the Kings, Hawks, Warriors (though hey probably has no leverage there with Draymond lol). Maybe Cavs (Garland) and Sixers (Maxey), but all the other clients are role players and usually originally signed with the Lakers
