Some hubub today in Bulls-land where Darnell Mayberry of The Athletic (http://tinyurl.com/25xyrx2a) had this quote that was…well I’m not sure what it is:

>>”My point of contention was the front office punted on a pass offered happily by the team’s fans — a rebuild. “Your fans,” the executive countered.”

***

Oh…kay? It's not like the Bulls have a ton of "high-ranking executives" to get this quote

Given that it required Darnell to try and make any sense of it means it could've been AK himself.

If it's truly a nefarious greedy intent to distinguish the paying customer from 'fans', I honestly don't believe AK is capable of that thought. Eversley? Paxson? Michael Reinsdorf is a non-entity, not giving any directives.

Either way, it doesn’t make a difference in AK’s performance. I actually would not give them “a pass” on a rebuild, since they’d screw it up outside of lowering payroll.

But to do literally nothing is even dumber if that truly is a constraint. Nobody is buying a ticket to see Andre Drummond, you have this built-in customer base that would ignore moves that are forward thinking while you actually try and improve the team.

AKME isn’t hampered by constraints, they could actually flourish knowing they don’t have small-market concerns about filling the building. They are bad at rostering a basketball team!
