Our garden is perhaps not everyone’s cup of tea

It’s been an ongoing process since we moved here.

The borders are a tad chaotic and eclectic and not as clean and easy on the eye.

I’m trying to create a native…ish garden of perennials that will provide a diversity of colour, scent, habitat, size and depth to last all through the year.

Makes some great observations of sometimes doing too much…..particularly with wildflower meadows

I had this same conversation with substack.com/@annewareh… too.

Is the wildflower lawn a lawn, a meadow or just another border?

It gets levelled by the end of summer but at the moment it’s a constant battle to keep the more vigorous knapweed at bay!

Anyway, what I’ve done seems to be very biodiverse which is what I wanted. It also has its own Microclimate, even on a windy day like today.

The air is moist and thick with insects. Birds, bats and hedgehogs love it.

Just finished the seminal book, “The Wild Garden” by William Robinson.

I’m hoping he’s looking down approvingly……
