Two hours left on my 12 hour day of driving and I was exhausted, had to stop at the next rest stop on the New Jersey Turnpike, 9PM on this Saturday two months ago. I was pleasantly surprised, you could immediately see it was newly renovated with snappy brands all in a row, Panda Express, Shake Shake, Chick Fil A. I end up seated directly across from Panda Express Nursing a Diet Pepsi watching as a number of Hispanic Families filed through the Panda Express service line ordering their "Chinese" dinner, in Spanish, to the Hispanic servers working on the other side of the steamtables. I thought it was a wonderful, hopeful snapshot of America 2023, but I guess to others not so much.
