Wow, my essay exploring the intersection between queerness and disability has now had 5,000+ views and 100+ likes!
It’s probably the essay I’m most proud of – it took months to research and write, and was quite painful, but in the end it unlocked a lot for me (even a new reader who became a new friend!).
I genuinely think there’s a hunger for in-depth, nuanced and compassionate conversation and research about this intersection. Disabled people represent almost a quarter of the population, and are almost three times as likely to identify as LGBTQ: it’s not nearly as “niche” a topic as society would have us believe!
