The best way I’ve learned to track the progress of the Bolts is by dividing the season into 10-game segments (eight total parts). The goal in every 10-game segment is to reach 12 points—this is what I call playoff pace.
In past seasons, the threshold to reach the playoffs is approximately 96 points. While there’s nothing magical about the total, the teams who have reached 96 points have typically made the playoffs.
Thus, if the Bolts can reach 12 points every 10 games, then they’ll reach 96 points through 80 games, and have 2 games to spare.
