In praise of the cross-post!
As most of us now know, the cross-post is a valuable arrow in our collective (and personal) Substack quiver. Used effectively and selectively, it can be a way to share with your subscribers the keen insightful writing of your peers (always a good thing)!
It can also be used to “buy some time” for yourself while you catch up on the pressures and hassles of life that may have kept you from the writing schedule you’ve tried to maintain.
This recent post (“Remembering Flo & Eddie”) by Marshall Bowden of New Directions in Music, is only the second e-mailed cross-post I’ve been honored to also make itself a home on the FRONT ROW & BACKSTAGE site! The first was a recent, brilliant post about ‘60s poppers, The Cyrkle, by Flipped Out Phil of Painted Dayglo Smiles, and there are more to come from other writers, I’m sure!
Choose your cross-posts wisely, but generously…you’ll also increase the range of eagerly-hungry eyeballs anxious to discover some of the best of our wonderful writers…who will be thrilled you picked them and their work to spotlight!😁👍
