The great Glen Campbell would’ve been 88 Monday, April 22. He was born in Billstown, Arkansas in 1936, and passed away (at 81) in Nashville in 2017.

For all of his hits (for Capitol Records) in the 1960s and ‘70s (and a hit variety TV show), he actually moved to L.A. in the early ‘60s, and promptly got regular session work as a reliable and creative guitar player…and, he couldn’t read a lick of music!

In this clip from the Session Men doc, released a decade ago, he and his fellow Wrecking Crew members talk about playing for recording sessions backing everyone from Phil Spector, the Beach Boys, Frank Sinatra, and more!

We remember the “aw-shucks” guitar player with the multiple hits and a pleasing tenor with plenty of range…but, know that he was also one of rock’s guitar greats who easily drew the awe, respect, and admiration from his peers….for decades!
