My great-grandmother had 12 kids & 80+ grandkids. She had unexpected company every day for meals and was always prepared, with a kettle of pintos, a skillet of cornbread, a few seasonal vegetables & cobbler with fruit she’d either picked or canned. As a kid, I rode my bike to haul in her evening coal in the winter and always stayed for dinner. She died in 1992, but Cracker Barrel reliably got me almost home to her.
