The most insidious type of attack on a complex multisigner vault is a very interesting one spanning multiple semantic layers. Alice and Bob are both legitimate signers and Mallory is a legitimate recipient of a payment. Alice and Bob conspire to double-send a payment to Mallory which they will then get a kickback for. To do this Alice initiates the first payment, then Bob reports that Alice is misbehaving and he’s going to send the payment, and Alice rebuts that bay claiming that Bob is being adversarial and that her payment is still the right one. If people aren’t careful both payments will go through and the conspiracy will get their payday. The best general approach to situations like this is for both Alice and Bob’s transactions to be cancelled and Charlie be appointed the new person in charge of initiating transactions but it starts to get into k-agreement fast. Thankfully these are big conspiracies and don’t happen much in real life.
