It’s good for business when a product provides relief from a problem without solving it.
Even better for business is when the product worsens the problem along the way without getting caught.
Ignorance is painful and damning. Generative AI—especially when designed as a commercial product—provides relief but keeps us ignorant and will probably make it worse.
I’m not suggesting that AI companies are intentionally planning humanity’s decline. That said, their advertisements reveal that the problem they’re trying to solve is ignorance. I am convinced, however, that what they’re creating will be used in ways that exasperate our ignorance.
Intelligence and craftsmanship are hard earned; convenience and ease are our favorite poisons.
