Make money doing the work you believe in

This was from a deeply disturbing video the president posted on social media.

The video depicted Gaza being transformed into a resort town baring the name of the current president everywhere in gold and money was literally falling from the sky.

Making no mistake that he, his power, and his money were going to claim Gaza and be its “savior” for the world he envisioned.

And then this giant gold statue of himself was at the center of this town.

Of course people will tell you “he’s just joking around” and “he’s just trying to troll people like you.” They even said this after he claimed he was going to “take over Gaza” and “level it.”

As if there is anything virtuous about someone in power who spends their time joking and trolling people about the very livelihood and wellbeing of other human beings, like Palestinians.

This is simply an effort to justify this behavior for themselves and nothing more.

The truth is, if any president from the political party many Christians opposed posted something like this, the internet would be flooded with End Times prophecies and claims that they are the “anti-Christ.” But here we are.

This is what worshiping wealth and power looks like.

It looks like tolerating and gleefully accepting everything you wouldn’t from people you oppose because of the access to imagined power and wealth they grant you.

It looks like violating the tenets of the very faith you claim to hold deeply while clearly trading the gospel of Jesus for the gospel of “the means justify the end!”

It looks like callously disregarding the lived reality of other human beings you don’t even know and calling it “freedom” and “God’s will.”

This isn’t about political ideology or political parties.

This is just blatant, unapologetic idol worship.

It must be repented from. It is causing very real harm to people in our world.

We will continue to say it: “the emperor has no clothes.”

Of course, this disturbing video was posted (perhaps as a distraction) after House Republicans passed a budget resolution that includes dramatic potential cuts to Medicaid and food assistance programs that would negatively impact millions of Americans, provide tax breaks for the ultra wealthy, and add to our national deficit.

Medicaid covers a portion of the cost for pregnancy and childbirth.

Medicaid provides 40% of the funding for community health centers.

Medicaid supports 2 out of 3 people in nursing homes.

Medicaid provides health care to 41 million children.

In fiscal year 2023, about 42.1 million people, or 12.6% of the U.S. population, received food stamps through the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). This program is the largest nutrition assistance program in the United States.

What happens when people can’t afford the healthcare or food they need?

Put simply, if you are gutting healthcare and food assistance for millions of Americans, you are absolutely not “pro life.”

Friends, there’s simply no expressing how heartless and heartbreaking all this behavior is. This bill could be potentially disastrous for so many people in our country.

Please raise your voices and advocate for the poor, the sick, the elderly, and the hungry by speaking truth to your representatives in power, locally and nationally. Please be alert to the needs of those around you and support organizations that help people in need.

This isn’t about party lines, it’s about simply caring for one another. Don’t let this inhumanity stop you from loving your fellow human beings! Love all the more boldly!

“I was sick…”

And you took away my healthcare.

“I was hungry…”

And you took away my food assistance.

“Truly I tell you, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.’” -Jesus

Note: with many red states among the largest recipients of these programs, some republicans are even raising concerns: nbcnews.com/politics/co…
