One thing that right-wingers frequently don’t understand about Marxist theory is that Marxism isn’t particularly interested in whether or not someone like Jeff Bezos is a good guy or not. It might be the case that Jeff is a great leader and an inspiring individual, but that’s also entirely irrelevant

Think about lions in an ecosystem. They cannot exist unless there is a much larger class of antelope beneath them. We don’t really ask whether or not the lions are ‘good’ or ‘bad’, or whether they ‘deserve’ to be there. They’re just at the apex of an ecosystem that can only support a certain small number of predators

Similarly, Marxism involves a kind of ecosystemic class analysis. Marxists don’t really care whether or not individual capitalists have good intentions or not. They care about the fact that capitalists cannot exist as a class without feeding off the labour of everyone below them. It’s not a judgement about their character. It’s a statement about their de facto position
