The party would suddenly seem to have an agenda, one designed to protect regular people from Trump’s abuses, and they’d be seen acting on it day in day out. I suspect this would bring the generic ballot closer into alignment with special-election results. Democrats could sleep better, and, crucially, find that inner peace by taking concrete steps to ensure against Trump’s subversion. They should either do it, or tell me why I’m wrong.
