I've enjoyed talking in person about the KJV with people when they've asked. I know I've shared a lot of this before, but it's on my mind right now, so maybe my reflections will be helpful for you too right now.

A few things I never knew before I looked into this that most people I've talked with have no idea about either.

Modern texts are based on the Critical text which comes from the ECM, UBS 6, or Nestle Aland 28. This text is not finished or complete and is still open to change.

Westcott and Hort were socialists. They let a Unitarian on the Revised committee who wrote a book called Texts and Margins in which he talked about how he changed the text based on his Unitarian beliefs. These changes have been ongoing even up to August 24, 2024 where the University of Munester and ECM is going to change the text in Revelation 21:6 to say Jesus becomes the Alpha and Omega.

The King James Bible is based on the Greek Received text that was passed down and read in the churches. The the Byzantine Empire passed down the text in Greek up till the fall of Constantinople in 1453. The printing press was created in 1440. When people say there are over 5,000 Greek manuscripts, they are talking about the Byzantine text. King James loved Jesus, wasn't a homosexual, and commissioned the Bible to be made by 3 committees of 50 of the best scholars at the time. The King James Bible came out in 1611 and was updated a few times for spelling and printing errors. The one used today is based on the 1789 edition with updated spelling that updates things like the letter s that looked like the letter f.

There is a lot more to look into and share, but I think we need to ask ourselves, if God promised to preserve His words where are the words of God?

One group says the Bible is still being updated and changed so they can reconstruct the initial text. Another group says the Bible is finished and perfect.

They both can't be right, can they? Especially when the words and meanings are different.

I know that when I read the KJV 1 John 5:7, John 8, Acts 8:37, Mark 16 and more are still there. Jesus isn't a liar when he says he won't yet go up to Jerusalem in John 7. He's on earth and in heaven in John 3:13. And He's not going to become the Alpha and Omega in some future English version of Revelation 21:6. He is the Alpha and Omega, and His blood is still important.

If you've read this far down, thanks! I'd ask, and you don't have to answer here, but just reflect on this, where are the words of God? And what if the words and meanings in the Bible you're using is different than the KJV? Does it matter to you if they are different and produce different theological meanings?

I'm going to list two links in the comments. One a video of two guys talking about differences between the versions. A second link with verses you can compare yourself without having to go through the video.

Maybe you've skipped over my past posts on it, but I think it's worth being aware that modern Bibles are still changing, and I hope this gives you a bit more insight into why I'm sticking with the King James Bible.
