Here’s some process for you. I wrote Major Minor Details in 2006 and 2007, optioned to a VERY fancy and awesome company in 2008, they almost made it a handful of times. The first director they attached changed my life when he said, “I’m mad at these characters. Why isn’t he taking care of her, but really why isn’t she taking care of herself?” LITERALLY changed my life with those words. Around that time, the exec working with me asked, “Do you want to direct this?” And I said no and years later that no haunted me. I rewrote in 2014 thinking I’d make it with the producer I made my first short with. That didn’t pan out. TEN YEARS LATER, once I had made and successfully executed Ramona and knew I could do it, I rewrote the film — first in 2024 to update references and again in 2025 for a new location that would be more conducive to a NonDe budget — aka, under 500K. The script is tight. The lookbook is gorgeous. I’m starting to build a team. Someone at a NonDe meetup questioned that I had yet to start raising money and that definitely sent me spiraling. Right now, the right partners are everything. And I’m doing my best to bring this love story to its fulfillment…. Like the lovers in the film do. Without strategy, hearts open, moving into the unknown.
