The concept of schizotypy is interesting. It’s used to describe a spectrum of traits related to how strongly people detect patterns, meaning, and hidden connections in the world.

At one end are very analytical, skeptical thinkers. At the other end are experiences like mystical thinking and religious experiences, and in extreme cases psychosis such as schizophrenia.

Most people fall somewhere in the middle. It’s about how sensitive the brain’s meaning-detection system is.
