Today’s pocket of magic:

A lovely dark-eyed junco couple are nesting in the hanging flower basket right beside the door. The male is often in this spot, keeping an eye on things. He’s stopped flying away when we open the door, instead he listens to me as I talk to him. Sometimes he chirps back. My favorite conversations are with the wildlife, especially the songbirds.
