Bri Lee reminded me of this article she wrote last year about the cancelling of a large literary podcast here in Australia. With another one gone, the landscape can look pretty grim. There are so many incredible writers in Australia all with amazing stories across genres but when the platforms to discuss and promote those books gets taken away, they can easily get lost.
While it’s not the same as hour-long discussions of novels, I’m going to start shouting out some great Australian writers here in notes.
I’ll start with Bri herself. I’ve been an avid reader of News and Reviews for years now and loved her novel, ‘The Work’, released last year. You’ll love The Work because it has:
Beauitful prose
A plot that’s very hard to put down
Lots of meaty discussions of Art and Power
And then there’s the spice 🌶️ 🫐
Her new book, Seed, comes out September 2025 which I’m sure will be just as fabulous.
