The rich young ruler in Luke 18 wanted eternal life, but he wanted it on his own terms.

He wanted to follow Jesus, but didn’t want to disrupt the life he’d built for himself.

He wanted a Christianity that was comfortable.

People haven’t changed. People still want a comfortable faith that fits nicely in the nooks and crannies of thier lives.

This is something Jesus never offered.

The sad part is that there are plenty of churches that do.
