The app for independent voices

I truly think any independent retailer/mom & pop shop/small biz with a storefront would be successful if they offered:

  • dog treats (quickest way to get passersby to stop and you’ll become their dogs favorite place in the neighborhood)

  • free little treats for kids (stickers, temporary tattoos, lollipops, etc.) for same reason as above and it’s such a relief to parents to have something their kid gets excited about when they’re running errands together

  • Coffee. I know not every business/storefront is a coffee shop and there are regulations and insurance yada yada but if you don’t sell it don’t ban people from carrying their own inside. Spills be damned, people feeling welcomed/comfortable always wins out.

  • Approachability/accessibility- make it EASY for people to get in and out of your store with a wheelchair or a stroller. Leave ample space to maneuver and go out of your way to make them feel welcome.

  • Good design. If it doesn’t come naturally to you hire someone. It makes 100% of a difference. If you have a good vibes space that’s either aspirational and chic or cozy and welcoming with great seating, people will go out of their way to make it their 3rd space.
