Carmelite bishop Silvio José Báez, OCD reflects on the Virgin's response at the moment of the Annunciation:

"Nothing is impossible for Love. When we believe in God's love, the impossible begins to come true. In the end, we heard Mary’s answer: “Behold, I am the handmaid of the Lord. May it be done to me according to your word” (Lk 1:38). Only when the Virgin responded with confidence and determination did the eternal Word begin its human existence in time. It is both moving and surprising to see how God not only respects human freedom but almost seems to need it"
