Aminus3 Photography …. this week’s prompt: Morning.

For me, it was impossible to choose just one photo for this challenge. And just as impossible to choose a single one from this trip to an incredibly amazing place, The Sun Tunnels near Wendover, UT.

A friend and I camped in the remote salt desert next to this enormous art installation, created in 1976 by Nancy Holt. It incorporates four massive concrete cylinders, arranged in a cross pattern that perfectly align with the sun as it rises and sets on both summer and winter solstices. Inside, there are holes representing the stars of four constellations: Draco, Perseus, Columba, and Capricorn.

Both the experience of camping in such a remote and true dark-sky place, with millions of stars dancing overhead, and then watching the kaleidoscope sunrise through the tunnels was one that I’ll never forget.
