My aunt has a very glamorous job: she’s an interior designer, but her clients have “more money than God,” and they trust her to do their entire home (and second and third homes) precisely to her taste. She doesn’t do moodboards or run decisions by them, she just finishes the whole space, down to the spoons. I asked her why people don’t want more control, and she said, “Catherine, you literally have to put the books on the coffee table for these people. You have to show them how to live.”
