Notes

We’ve heard a lot of debate over Substack’s content moderation policies over the last week. Of course, people have differing opinions when it comes to the best ways to handle the airing of views that are sometimes repugnant—and that’s healthy. However, we remain confident and steadfast in our approach. We believe strongly in protecting and upholding freedom of expression, and we think that it can thrive on the internet when matched with the right model. Substack is building the right model.

Thanks to all who have weighed in on this issue for caring so much about Substack. We appreciate you.

Hi everyone. Chris, Jairaj, and I wanted to let you know that we’ve heard and have been listening to all the views being expressed about how Substack should think about the presence of fringe voices on the platform (and particularly, in this case, Nazi views).

I just want to mak…

Substack shouldn’t decide what we read
We should.
