The app for independent voices

My subscriber list keeps increasing (slowly) and I am happy with each and every one. But the percentage that open up my email stays about 25 to 30%. I would certainly like that to be higher but I don’t know how. My primary newsletters are free, and will stay that way, because I mostly want to share so non-active subscribers don’t really hurt — do they? If conversion to paid isn’t a major purpose, is there any reason to prune a subscription list?
