A few weeks ago we hosted an intimate dinner at Atlassian's San Francisco office with 40ish design leaders from Anthropic,Apple, Meta, OpenAI, and many others. Plenty of old friends as well as local legends I met for the first time.

It was a treat to have such a free-flowing and deep discussion withJoel Lewenstein (Anthropic’s whip-smart Head of Design) - on how AI is changing the way design teams build, both now and further into the future.

Some particular exchanges that stayed with me -

1) Organisational coherence becoming even more crucial

2) The messy (and wonderful) irreducibly human aspect of work

3) Speed of creation ≠ speed of comprehension

4) Quality as an expression of care
