The phrase ‘no taxation without representation’ has been playing in my mind on a loop for some time.
The people currently being stripped of their right to vote, or having that vote made meaningless, are the same people paying extortionate prices for healthcare, housing, and food. They are taxed without question whilst not having any real representation in any of the three branches of government.
Meanwhile we have an elite few who do not pay their fair share of tax, and instead use their wealth to fund campaigns, lobby lawmakers, and shape policy to protect and grow their own interests. Their wealth is their vote, and they cast it constantly.
Americans once overthrew British rule on exactly this principle. How long before they do the same to the broligarchy?
