We're getting ready to dive into some writing sessions in a couple of weeks, and my anticipation level is through the roof! Not only will we have access to an amazing room with great studio equipment, but there's also a collection of pretty much every Fender amp ever made, along with Music Man, Ampeg, and all of our own amps, that live in this space.
We haven't had much time together as a band since the last round of support tours. Since the pandemic, that's mostly what we've been doing—festivals and support tours. These were great experiences, and if more support tours come our way, I think everyone in the band would be more than happy to hit the road again. The bands we've played with over the last five years have been wonderful, both new and old friends: Cursive, Thursday, Sunny Day Real Estate, and Nate Bergman!
That said, getting together with The Appleseed Cast to write new ideas sounds incredible to me. I feel unencumbered by any specific palette, especially after scratching the synth instrumental itch with Black x Sea. Where once I was set on making this Appleseed Cast album instrumental, now I'm not so sure. I’m open to whatever direction it takes—which, honestly, is the best possible place to be when writing for TAC.
