BREAKING: California sued the Trump administration on Monday over President Donald Trump’s activation of the California National Guard.
California Gov. Gavin Newsom previously announced a challenge was coming in the wake of Trump’s weekend action, and California Attorney General Rob Bonta announced the lawsuit in a news conference earlier Monday.
“The President’s federalization and deployment of the National Guard for reasons not authorized by law and without input from or consent of the Governor contravenes core statutory and constitutional restrictions. Use of the regular armed forces is similarly unlawful here,“ the lawsuit declared.
