BREAKING: The U.S. Court of Appeals for the First Circuit denied the Justice Department's request for an administrative stay of the temporary restraining order requiring full SNAP benefits be paid by Friday.

The ruling means the payments, which USDA has said it was working to make under a lower court’s order, will need to be made on Friday.

The unsigned order was issued for Chief Judge David Barron, an Obama appointee, and Judges Gustavo Gelpí and Julie Rikelman, both Biden appointees.

DOJ's stay request remains pending, and the panel stated that it is working on a ruling on that.

USDA had already said it was working to and would comply with the TRO, issued by the district court in Rhode Island, although DOJ had, at the same time, been requesting the stay to block the order.
