BREAKING: The Biden administration went to the Supreme Court on Thursday in the case seeking to limit the administration’s interaction with social media companies, asking the justices to put the lower courts' injunction on hold while the Supreme Court decides whether to hear the case.

As Law Dork covered over the weekend, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit significantly narrowed the district court judge’s July 4 injunction, but kept in place a modified version of one of the provisions of the injunction and the underlying rulings that the challengers had standing to bring their lawsuit and that several people and agencies within the Biden administration likely violated the First Amendment because they “likely coerced or significantly encouraged social-media platforms to moderate content.”

The docket number is 23A243.

UPDATE: Justice Sam Alito, acting as circuit justice, issued an administrative stay, halting the social-media case injunction until 11:59 p.m. ET Sept. 22. Any response from the challengers is due by 4:00 p.m. ET Sept. 20.
