BREAKING: The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit on Tuesday allowed Indiana’s ban on gender-affirming medical care for minors to go into effect as to the use of hormones or puberty blockers for transgender minors, as well as an unusual “aiding or abetting” provision, for the first time since the law’s passage in 2023.
The three-judge panel’s order — technically an order to stay the district court’s injunction against the law’s enforcement — came in the wake of briefing and oral arguments earlier this month over the state’s appeal of the district court’s ruling.
The panel included Judge Kenneth Ripple, a Reagan appointee; Judge Michael Brennan, a Trump appointee; and Judge Candace Jackson-Akiwumi, a Biden appointee. The order stated that an opinion from the court will follow. It did not state the vote, but it did not note whether there was any dissent.
Law Dork will have a full report on this case when there is a full ruling from the court, but, in the meantime, do read the story linked below on the injunction for additional information about the Indiana law.
